Hopkins Tailight Converter Kit Installation - 2000 Lexus RX 300

Today on our 2000 Lexus RX300, we'll be installing the Hopkins Tail Light Converter with Install Kit, part number 46255. When not using your four flat, you can store it in your spare tire compartment and when you do want to use your four flat, you'll life it out and you'll set it out the rear of the vehicle, making sure you keep it clear of the center latch on the rear hatch. The weather stripping will be pushed in, allowing the wire to come out the rear of the hatch, yet not damage it. To begin with, we need to raise the rear hatch. We'll also need to remove the carpet cover that covers up the spare tire lid as well as any other covers that might be in the way here. In this case, the hard cover we we're able to just use the hook and hold it up out of place. We'll first remove the threshold here. To do this, we'll use our trim panel tool to remove 4 black push pins and then we'll pop out the fasteners that hold it in place. With the center threshold removed, now we can go ahead and begin on taking out our other parts. We'll begin here on the driver's side. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2000 Lexus RX 300

Today on our 2000 Lexus RX300, we'll be installing the Tow Ready 4-Pole Wiring Harness with Hardware kit, part number 119179KIT. To begin our install, we'll first open up the rear hatch. We'll need to remove the taillight assemblies on each side. To remove the taillight assembly, we'll remove the fastener caps and then remove the fasteners. Once we remove the fasteners, we can go ahead and remove the taillight assembly, carefully pop it out of its position, not breaking the alignment tabs underneath. We'll just let the light hang there here on the driver's side and move over to the passenger's side repeating the same process. With our taillight assemblies out, we can now gain access to the manufacturer's wiring here behind the taillight assembly. more
